Reminiscing

I can't believe how fast Ewan's first month flew by! I'm getting the hang of the mommy thing now and Jeff has been an awesome dad. Ewan is healthy, happy, and growing every day. I can't wait until his check-up next month to see how much he's really grown. He's still trying to figure out how to use his arms and hands. Every so often he will reach his mouth to suck on his hand and it makes him so happy and proud of himself. He's starting to smile and he now recognizes my voice. When I talk, he will look around the room to see where I'm at - that is the most special thing in the world to me right now. I love him and love how much he needs me. The first few weeks were hard work being that they were full of adjustments and learning curves, but things have started to settle. We are now able to really take everything in and enjoy time spent with eachother, all three of us. I have been reminiscing about my pregnancy the last couple of days.... how just a month ago Ewan was still in my belly, how we spent our days imagining when he'd come and what he'd look like, and how we tried to prepare ourselves in every way possible as we became parents for the first time.
.
Here is a very special video clip of the morning of August 7th, the day Ewan was born. We were walking up and down Laguna Beach trying to get labor going. Little did we know that we'd be at the hospital that evening awaiting his arrival.

Belly Bunny

So, my first semester of college, I did what every girl just moved out on their own was doing... I got my belly button pierced. :) Well 7 years later with a pregnant, stretching belly, the piercing wasn't looking so cute anymore. In fact, I really hated seeing the mark it was leaving on my stomach. Jeff then mentioned to me one day that he loved the stretch mark of my belly ring. He thought it was cute and resembled a bunny! I looked at it, and he was right... it did look like a bunny! It actually resembles a certain bunny logo...

Thanks to a complimentary husband,
now I think I have a pretty cute "belly bunny". :)

Hormones

Boy, do I cry a lot! Tears just pour out over every little thing. Sometimes I'll cry due to a a long day at work, but it's usually the most random things that make me sob. Whoever happens to experience the sudden outburst of tears with me, usually just ends up laughing, which helps snap me out of it. The latest incident was at dinner with Jeff and my family - I spent an extensive amount of time picking out the perfect dinner roll and buttering it just right, when it slipped out of my hands and bounced down my boobs... belly... lap... and then hit the floor. I burst into tears and everyone burst into laughter, which of course I joined in on laughing at the situation. Divot ended up with the perfectly butter piece of bread and Jeff helped me recover with a fresh roll. Now on to the next little thing to shed tears over. :)

29 weeks

Now that I am in the third trimester, we have been able to use the prenatal heart monitor that my girlfriend lent me, to listen to the baby. We had so much fun listening to his heartbeat and hiccups - which is an often occurence lately. :)

Baby Bump

Now that I have a bump to photograph,
here are a few pictures of just that. :)

21 weeks, 5 days

Ok, so more belly pictures have been requested, specifically of me not Jeff. :) These were taken last night before Jeff and I went out for a date. I love the picture with Divot in the background - he is never more than 5 feet away from us when we're home, as you can see. I haven't posted many pictures, because there's not much to show yet. Hopefully all the food I've been eating is a good sign that this little baby will be having a growth spurt soon!

I Love Food!

I can't get enough food lately! Within a 2 hour span tonight I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as a pre-dinner snack, then fried rice and miso soup for dinner, then half a watermelon, then Reese's Pieces, then a lemon bar (I made them Sunday to fulfill a craving) then more watermelon... and I still want to eat more! I've decided to write and laugh about it, instead of eating any more tonight. :)

I never knew I could be this hungry! We have our weekly grocery list going on the fridge which started out with essentials like milk and soap, but now the list has just gotten laughable... I should rename it "Katrina's Cravings!" Or should I say baby's cravings. Here's a tiny example of the list: cheetos, chips and dip, marshmallow spread (a fluffernutter sounds yummy lately), another watermelon (I've gone through 2 in 2 days!), sour cream, cherrios, etc. And I'd probably eat all of these together for lunch!

I have to say, I have the best husband in the world. He keeps me full and happy, feeling beautiul and loved. If anyone knows how to get a hold of a 3-tier wedding cake with buttercream frosting, let me know... that sounds pretty good lately too. :)

Room Is Needed

I have been trying to wear my regular wardrobe for as long as possible. At this point, it's just not working, which prompted a minor meltdown today. I have been safety pinning and stretching hair elastics and ribbons across my clothing to give me a couple extra inches in the waist. At first I felt clever and inventive about my efforts, but now it just makes me feel sloppy and uncomfortable, not to mention worried that the elastic may slip allowing my pants to drop to my ankles. I've asked friends about what they wore during the in between stage, and everyone's answer was sweats. Unfortunately, I work full-time and don't have the luxury of wearing sweats to work. So, after attending church in uggs and a sweatshirt, I went in search of maternity wear. If I had an unlimited budget, this process would be a piece of cake with all the trendy options available. But this is not the case. I kept a conservative approach, knowing that I would only be wearing these items for a few months, and headed to Old Navy Maternity and Gap Maternity. Both have an up to date selection, with their best assets being their fabulous clearance racks! I ended up with a pair of elastic banded waist, black work pants and another pair in khaki. Practical, and oh so comfortable. I look forward to being able to sit and breathe comfortably in my new pants at work this week! :)

These days are over!

I think I can officially say that I am not sick anymore... yay! It's been a long time coming, but everyone said it would get better. Food is finally starting to look a little more appetizing. Time to start nourishing this baby!
