Now for a Name

We're not telling! Well, that was the original plan that seems to have gone out the window.

Jeff and I had made a list of girl and boy names. There were 10 girls names, none of which we were that crazy about, and then on the other side we had 1 boy name. We had the boy name chosen before we were even pregnant, for some reason we just loved it and it was an easy choice. Girls names seem to be a lot harder. We liked a few but they were all "too popular" for our taste. Everyone was convinced that we were having a girl (see earlier blog regarding "Ring Test") which left us in more turmoil over the name selection. We thought, if only it was a boy, we'd be set with the 1 name we had on our list. Sure enough God gifted us with a little boy, and we're very excited about his name!

Now, I still didn't want to share the name with anyone - we had a plan to keep it a surprise until the baby was born. As soon as Jeff found out he was having a son, he couldn't wait to tell everyone! And his excitement grew to the point where he couldn't hold back on telling everyone the name as well. We happened to compromise with just telling our families, and that's it. We'll see if he can hold it in a few more months.

So, if you're a lucky one who knows the name, you get to feel very special! You also hold the responsibility of keeping it to yourself. For those of you who have yet to find out, hang tight. You only have a few more months to wait and be surprised, or you may just run in to Jeff, the most excited daddy-to-be, who will most likely tell you his little boy's name... and tell you not to tell me that you know! :)

We are so excited and love telling everyone that we are going to have a little boy.
Jeff says he's going to be a great golfer. :)

My new favorite thing

My new favorite thing... slushies! I make mine in the blender with crushed ice, powdered juice mix, and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Yum! They taste even better when served in a cute glass. This slushie happens to be raspberry lemonade.

So blessed

My mom and sister went shopping for me! The two of them were graciously thinking of me and picked out the cutest maternity clothes to send my way. I love everything! I am so blessed to have such a loving family. THANKS Mom and Felicia!

a little wiggle

I've been waiting for the moment that I would feel the first little wiggle in my belly. Well, I marked my calendar because today was the day! I was at work, hunched over my desk, when I felt a tiny punch from the inside, low in my stomach. I waited a moment, and it happened again! I think the baby didn't like being squished... so I decided to squish it more to see if that was the case. The more I hunched over, the more kicking and punching went on. Little baby just wanted some room to stretch! It was adorable and quite a moment that I took in fully. I was the only one in the room and just sat there with a huge smile on my face enjoying the miracle I was experiencing. I am amazed at how real this is feeling now and getting more excited every day!

Room Is Needed

I have been trying to wear my regular wardrobe for as long as possible. At this point, it's just not working, which prompted a minor meltdown today. I have been safety pinning and stretching hair elastics and ribbons across my clothing to give me a couple extra inches in the waist. At first I felt clever and inventive about my efforts, but now it just makes me feel sloppy and uncomfortable, not to mention worried that the elastic may slip allowing my pants to drop to my ankles. I've asked friends about what they wore during the in between stage, and everyone's answer was sweats. Unfortunately, I work full-time and don't have the luxury of wearing sweats to work. So, after attending church in uggs and a sweatshirt, I went in search of maternity wear. If I had an unlimited budget, this process would be a piece of cake with all the trendy options available. But this is not the case. I kept a conservative approach, knowing that I would only be wearing these items for a few months, and headed to Old Navy Maternity and Gap Maternity. Both have an up to date selection, with their best assets being their fabulous clearance racks! I ended up with a pair of elastic banded waist, black work pants and another pair in khaki. Practical, and oh so comfortable. I look forward to being able to sit and breathe comfortably in my new pants at work this week! :)
